Port Blair, Nov. 23: The disposal of mixed waste at Dumping ground across the world is a major challenge for the environment due to the emission of toxic gases and fires.

Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT) is issuing directives/ orders from time to time, to overcome these issues by undertaking bio-remediation of dumping grounds and to adopt best suitable zero landfill activities/ methods as per the local area conditions & suitable technologies.

The main objective of bio-remediation is to extract the solid waste such as plastic/rubber/metal/cloth/tyre and other hazardous waste being dumped beneath the soil and to retain the fertility of soil as well as to create green patches such as garden/theme park which may inhale the toxic gases and can reducing the carbon footprints by releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.

Considering the above facts, PBMC has invited RFP on basis of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) from the best suitable firms for bio-mining of legacy waste dumped at Brookshabad over an area of 1.5 Hectare. Development erection of 03-R State of Art Unit, development of green patches/ theme park, Installation of Segregator with belt conveyor system/ Weigh Bridge/ Incinerator/ Bio-methenation and Construction & Demolition waste Plant is also considered as a part of the RFP. The bid will be opened on 27/11/2020.
