CCS Hits Abrasive on Drug Peddlers, Four Arrested with About 20 Kgs of Ganja

Port Blair, Nov. 23: The Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands has arrested 04 drug peddlers in 03 different raids on the same day.

On 21/11/2020 a credible information was received by Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station from an informer that one person namely Uttam Biswas R/o West Bengal will be arriving at Port Blair from Kolkata by private airlines and on the direction of Dy. SP (CID) a raiding team comprising Inspr. Mohd Elias, In-charge PS CCS, ASI Vijay Shankar, Constable Rajendran, Raja Rao, Mohd. Imran and P. K. Mondal was constituted and sent to VSI Airport, Lamba Line. The raiding team zeroed-in on the accused Uttam Biswas near parking of VSI Airport and recovered 13.620 Kgs Ganja from his possession.  Later on Smti Archana Gain was also arrested in the said matter.

On another information the raiding team headed by Inspr. Mohd Elias, Incharge PS CCS conducted a raid at the Private Bus Stand, Mohanpura and recovered 1.60 Kg. Ganja from the possession of the accused Gopal Biswas.

In yet another raid headed by SI T. Dilla Rao alongwith SI Santosh R. Shenoy, Head Constable P. Mustafa, Constable N. Thangaraj, G. Ravi and LHG Seema Kujur arrested one lady Smti Laxmibala Das and recovered 4.650 Kgs Ganja from her possession. All the above accused persons were arrested under NDPS Act. All the three operations were conducted under supervision of Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and under the overall supervision of Sh. Anant Mittal, IPS, SP(CID).

The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activities and is keeping strict vigil to stop gambling, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is once again requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474233832. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
