Port Blair, Aug 25: Continuous efforts are being undertaken by Port Blair Municipal Council to resist the spread of COVID-19. It has collected and disposed of wastes including bio waste across the entire Municipal jurisdiction.

The wastes are collected from the Quarantine houses, Circuit House South Point, Circuit House Haddo and Hornbill Nest and are transported to the incinerator of G.B.Pant Hospital for final disposal conforming to all precautions as prescribed in the guidelines by the dedicated team. Collection of garbage is done with specific focus on Containment Zones and vulnerable areas. On Tuesday, PBMC sanitised the Quarantine homes, Containment Zones of Dairy Farm, Ward No. 14, Police Quarters behind Ratnam Market, Ward No. 05 and Phoenix Bay, Ward No. 03.

Beside the work of Sanitation, disinfection, disposal of waste, PBMC is providing the services of Hearse van as per requirements to the cremation ground. The Hearse vans are duly sanitized on daily basis. Cremation/burial is done with proper care and safety guidelines.

PBMC appeals to the citizens of Port Blair to adhere the guidelines issued by the A&N Administration in true spirit to be safe from the spread of pandemic.
