Port Blair, Sept 28: After receiving complaints from the LPG consumers that the distributors are collecting the form regarding direct transfer of cash subsidy to the LPG consumers without any proper information and arrangements leading to chaotic situation in the premises of LPG distributors at Port Blair, a meeting was convened by the Secretary (CS&CA) regarding the filling up forms of KYC (Know Your Customer). In the meeting the Plant Manager, LPG Bottling Plant and representative of distributors of LPG were present. It has been decided in the meeting that the LPG distributors covering the South Andaman area will publish area wise schedule within a day or two for filling up the forms to streamline the procedure for convenience of the LPG consumers. Further, the format of the form with required details shall also be published for information of consumers.

The KYC form had created havoc in the South Andaman area, where consumers were seen running from pillar to post to get a form. Most of the govt. offices remained unattended for reasons to get the photo copy of the ID proof, form etc. and join an endless queue in front of the distributors’ counters. The meeting convened by the Secretary (CS&CA) brought a sigh of relief to the consumer, but most of them still not aware of the situation.

Untill and unless the consumers are made aware of the situation, such an act by the distributors will continue to create panic in the islands, opined a consumer who had undergone the tedious procedure of submitting the KYC form. It can only be hoped that the CCS being the biggest cooperative of the islands, will act sensibly when it comes to introduction of such forms or schemes.
