Car Nicobar, Nov. 3: The Chief Secretary Shri Anand Prakash arrived at Car Nicobar on 3rd Nov. 2012 on a day’s visit. Soon after his arrival he proceeded to Perka Village and inaugurated the Construction work of Sports Complex. This Sports Complex is being developed under the Panchayat Yuva Kreeda aur Khel Abhiyaan (PYKKA). The Construction work is being carried through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. This model Sports complex will have the facilities of Gymnasium and cycling and grounds for Football, Volley ball, Basket Ball, Traditional Wrestling, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho.

Under the National Panchayat Yuva Kreeda aur Khel Abhiyaan (PYKKA) six villages Perka, Tamaloo, Kinyuka, Chukchucha, Mus and Kinmay have been selected, and in all these villages the Sports Complexes will be developed. The Block Sports Officer Shri Birendra Pradhan told that each village has been allocated a fund of Rs. 1 lakh 22 thousands for the Infrastructural development for these games. Apart from this an annual Operational grant of Rs. 12 thousands is given to the village to maintain the Sport facilities. One Care taker, known as Kreedashree is already selected from each village, and he will be conducting the Sports activities apart from looking after the Sports complex of the village. Shri Pradhan told that the Master Trainer has already reached here to conduct workshop for these Kreedashrees. 

In the inaugural ceremony, Traditional Wrestling of Nicobar was demonstrated to the chief guest. The wrestlers of Perka village displayed the skills of this Indigenous Sports. Later the chief guest and the villagers enjoyed the game of Pillow-fighting. The Chief Secretary visited the site of proposed Football ground, Basket Ball and Volley ball also.

From Perka village Shri Anand Prakash left for Malacca to see the site for proposed Civilian helipad. He also visited the composite farm of Animal Husbandry at Arong village and thereafter proceeded to Passa beach where he inaugurated the beautification work, which is to be carried out under MGNREGA.  The Chief Secretary interacted with the leaders of the Tribal council there. From Passa beach he reached Big Lapathy and inspected the newly constructed cold storage of Fisheries Department.

In the evening Shri Prakash came to BJR Stadium Tamaloo to witness the Vice President of India Championship.
