There is a single SBI ATM in Mayabunder. It has not been working since last 15 days and the other ATM is at Billiground, a distance of 40 Kms from Mayabunder. As a result, the general public are suffering and literally crying. In case of emergency they are not able to withdraw money. Reliable sources informed me that there is a new machine lying idle, waiting to be installed. Through this letter I wish to bring to the notice of the competent authority on behalf of general public to solve this crisis at the earliest.

Everyone has been visiting our one & only Sahara - G B Pant Hospital. We can see the entrance gate of the GBP Hospital occupied by Auto Walas and other Private Vehicles.

24 hr many emergency cases like accident/ serious patient/ doctors on emergency call comes to Hospital, but the ONLY Enterance Gate is occupied by these auto walas who instead of being provided the auto stand  keep their autos, Moreover all the vehicles directly comes to the gate let it be the OPD Patient or the visitors.

The hospital has more than approx 20 security guards sitting idle on the benches, they are least bothered to help the needy patients, which you all could have seen. The guards at the entrance gate are not bothered about the seriousness of the vehicle coming to the Hospital, any delay can cause severe danger to the patient's life, because a delay of second can take Life.

Only Vehicle with the Causality/ Serious Patient/ Ambulance and Doctor’s Vehicle should be allowed till Gate. Rest of the vehicles to be stopped before Entrance Gate and keep the road free for Vehicles.

The Traffic Police has also been posted there for smooth traffic flow, but in vain. If the person violating the rule is challaned and if the Security Guard stops all the vehicles before the entrance a smooth functioning of traffic can be done. A notice board can also be displayed.

I hope the Director DHS will immediately take necessary action, because it is said – “Prevention is better than cure”.

I, as a living common man of this island have a opportunity to inform you regarding the Railways reservation counter of this islands.

Sir, the admin part of the ticket booking station is very dull which drugs a common man to great difficulties.  As we all know that this booking station has a modified routine, different from a railways routine. Then also the staffs is not operating these counters for this mere time too. The counter operating hours have been mentioned 0800 hrs -1400 hrs, in between that they have 1200 hrs - 1300 hrs lunch period, and moreover they have mentioned 1000 -1030 hrs time for TATKAL booking, but the thing is that merely 2-3 persons comes for the TATKAL booking or sometimes these numbers remains to 0 also. However, the staff don't operate any counter during the period i.e 1000 -1030 hrs if no TATKAL passengers comes which leads general public to great difficulties. This condition gets worst when number of passenger for general booking increases.

These all are being done with mutual understanding of the railways booking station Supervisor.

I also keen to inform you that one counter have not being operated since long time without any reason and anybody ask about this, the Supervisor claim it as a staff been put on inquiry.,

Sir, I further informs you that the inquiry counter also not attended fully.  These all staff are trying to make it as their picnic office only.

On questioning by general public, every time the Supervisor get annoyed. The behaviour of the Supervisor and staff is also very pathetic.

Diglipur is having a shortage of guest rooms/ bed in comparison to guest/ tourist/ Govt officials on arrival. But some of the govt servants not bothered about that.

The APWD guest house which is having 40 bed capacities is generally full with guests due to its location in heart of the city and well maintenance of its staff. It is generally accommodated to the guests, tourists and Govt officials on duty.

It is seen that the BDO, Diglipur has been staying in APWD Guest House Diglipur since August 2012 till date, capturing one room permanently in the Guest House for which the visiting govt. officials, tourists & PRI’s etc. are facing problems.

There are no rules for maximum stay but after one week generally the guest has to take Re permission from Asst. commissioner.

Of late the Agriculture Department has taken a step forward to provide marketing facilities to the local farmers to sell Vegetables and Fruits. A small temporary shed has been allotted for them at Goal Ghar. I would like to inform the concerned Directorate that the shed allotted at Goal Ghar is not a convenient place, as we have been noticing shortage of parking place. I would like to suggest that the Directorate shifts the existing outlet to some other place with parking facility.

After the closure of ANIIDCO Veg. Shop, demand for such outlets has increased. In Andaman, Vegetables and Fruit market is controlled by some big Middlemen who also control the prices. Even though the supply increases but the price never comes down. I would request the Director of Agriculture not to surrender under the pressure from these middlemen and not allow any of its staff as done by ANIIDCO.

A convenient place be provided to these farmers to sell their products and more such vegetable outlets be opened for local farmers in various parts of the city. The Directorate may also arrange for some financial help to the genuine farmers under various schemes through nodal agencies if possible.

I hope that other Departments will take a lesson from Agriculture Dept and will work for the betterment of the Islanders.
