Port Blair, April 10: Dr. B. Srikant, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District passed away today at 9.15 am at Bishop John Richardson Hospital, Car Nicobar due to cardiac arrest, while on duty. He was 49.

Dr. Srikant was a 2005 batch IPS Officer. He joined the Pondicherry Police service on 15/02/1990 and inducted in IPS in the year 2005 and presently was holding the charge of Superintendent Police (District), Nicobar from May 2012. He served more than 23 years service in Police Department at various posts including a stint in Intelligence Bureau and was appreciated for his outstanding professional competence.

The sudden and untimely death of Dr. Srikant has been mourned by the Director General, and all ranks of the A & N Police.  

With his death, the Police department has lost a sincere and devoted officer. We convey our heartfelt condolences to his wife and his son and the members of the bereaved family. We pray to the Almighty to give them the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss, said the DGP (i/c) in a communication.

The District Administration, Nicobars has also mourned the sad and sudden demise of Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District.  

The untimely death of the Superintendent of Police has also come as a shock to the members of the Tribal Council. In a message the Chairman, Members of Tribal Council and Nicobarese community, Car Nicobar conveyed its shock and grief to hear the sudden and unfortunate demise of Dr. B. Srikant, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobars district. He was a great friend and reformer to the youth of Nicobarese as well as the tribal community. We will always remember his role in giving moral support and un-conditional help to the whole community. We hope that Almighty God will give courage to the bereaved family to bear this such a great loss. Time can only heal itself. Hope his soul rest in peace, said the Chairman, TC in a communication.

Meanwhile the Member of Parliament Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray has mourned the sad and sudden demise of Dr. B. Srikanth, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District Shri. Ray expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty for his rest in peace.

The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma and all leaders of the Party have also mourned the untimely demise of Shri B Srikant, IPS, Supdt. of Police, Nicobar District who left for heavenly abode today. The Party prays for the eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to his family members.
