Car Nicobar Dominates in Athletics, Port Blair Players Shine in Badminton & TT

 

Port Blair, Dec. 11: The day 4 of the 18th State School Games witnessed some outstanding performances by the young school players in different competitions. J. S. Sansani of Car Nicobar performed splendidly and clinched two gold medals, each  in the 200 mtrs and 400 mtrs sprint.

He ran like a champion and won it easily. He was instrumental in the 4 x 400 mtrs relay race too, to fetch gold for his team. The zone maintained its dominance in athletics by winning gold medal in the javelin also with the superb display by Clereabel.

Among other zones Priyanka Das of Rangat proved her talent by winning gold medal in the 1500 mtrs long race. The small girl has been the star attraction in this edition of school games. The veterans feel that sports persons like Sansani and Priyanka may bring good results at the National level, if they are properly trained and guided. The performance of Rangat, Maya bunder and Diglipur has been quite impressive in athletics in this mega sporting event.

The Port Blair zone believed in their strength and fetched gold medals in Badminton, Table Tennis and Basket Ball. The Secretary Education Shri Devender Singh was the Chief Guest in the Basket Ball Final Match. While giving away the prizes the Director Sports Shri Dharmendra Kumar in his address, appreciated the efforts of the Car Nicobar team which inspite of having little experience of the game, showed good contest. He congratulated the players of Port Blair team for wining the match  and hoped that the players will continue their practice and form to achieve the best in their future games. The five day long mega sporting event come to an end tomorrow. The closing ceremony will begin at 2.15 pm at the Netaji Stadium.
