South Andaman Police Comes Down Heavy on Illicit Liquor and Narcotics

Port Blair, April 24: Police teams of South Andaman District are taking all possible action against the menace of narcotics and illicit liquor. In this direction, team of Police Station Aberdeen has arrested one person for possessing psychotropic drugs at Prem Nagar area and recovered 4 bottle Codeine syrup & 570 Tapentadol tablets from his possession while the team of PS Ograbraj has destroyed 400 liters of Lehan in the forest.

On 22/04/2019, on receipt of credible information the special raiding team of PS Aberdeen consisting of SI P. Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PCs SN Rao, Suresh and Vinod Liniya headed by Inspr. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen was formed and conducted raid and recovered (1) 04 No. of 100 ml bottles of Phencyrex cough syrup (2) 480 No. of tablets of Spasmo Proxyvon T+ tablets and (3) 90 No. of tablets of Trentadol-50 from the possession of accused person namely Shri. Siva Kumar S/o Shri. V Subbiah, 42yrs, R/o Buniyadabad.

On 23/04/19 a team comprising SI M.T. Abdul Salam, I/c OP Ferrargunj, HC P. Usman, PC Tanveer Hassan and HG(R) Ashok Kumar of OP Ferrargunj under the supervision of Inspector K.Binoj, SHO PS Ograbraj conducted jungle search at Ferrargunj jurisdiction. During the search the team recovered 02 drum & 02 tin containing about 400 liters of premature illicit liquor (Lehan) from the forest. The said illicit liquor was destroyed instantly at the spot.

All these operations took place under the close supervision of SDPO (SA/Bambooflat) Shri. Nishant Gupta and under the overall supervision of Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. 

The general public is requested to share information with Police in full confidence so that such anti-social elements are brought to justice and may pass such information to 100, 112, 03192-232100, 03192-232400 and 9434288673. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.

Disaster Preparedness Training Commences

Port Blair, April 24: The 212th batch of three days training programme on “Disaster Management & Preparedness” in Collapse Structure Search & Rescue & Medical First Responder (CSSR & MFR) to sensitize the Police Personnel & personnel of various Civil departments has commenced from 23/04/2019.

The Superintendent of Police (PMF/Commdt. IRBn) & Nodal Officer for Disaster Management of A&N Police was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the training programme. The programme aims to sensitize, impart knowledge and provide hands-on-training about the preventive and post-disaster steps that need to be undertaken in case of occurrence of any disaster. 

Altogether, 63 personnel are participating in the training programme. The Training is being conducted simultaneously at two locations viz. Conference Hall of SP(D)S/A Office and PS Diglipur.
