Discussion on Ill Effects of Tobacco Consumption

Port Blair, May 22: The  Port Blair Station of All India Radio will broadcast a LIVE phone-in interactive programme entitled “HELLO DOCTOR” on 25.5.19 (Saturday) from 7.20 AM to 7.55 AM. The topic of the discussion is “Ill Effects of Tobacco Consumption”. Dr.Ajay Verma, (Professor and Head - Department of Dentistry, ANIIMS). Will be the expert in the studio answering to the queries of the listeners. Moderator of this programme will be Ms. Jaisheela (Programme Executive).

IGNOU Online Fee Payment Closes on 30th May

Port Blair, May 22: The website link at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) site www.ignou.ac.in is open to pay the Re-Registration fee for July 2019 session. In IGNOU, the Re-registration is the process of payment of fees for the subsequent year of study for a particular academic programme. The students are advised to log on to IGNOU site for timely payment of their 2nd year or 3rd year fees. 

Similarly BCA, MCA students are advised to pay the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th semester fees through online. To facilitate the students the IGNOU has made a tie up with Common Service Centre (CSC) throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at over 50 locations. The list of CSC is available at Regional Centre, Port Blair. The internet charges / services charges for Re-Registration will be Rs.30/- at CSC. The last date of online Re-Registration will close on 30th May, 2019.  All IGNOU students are advised to timely re-register and avoid discontinuation of study.

Traffic Diversions on the Day of Counting

It is informed to all the general public that the counting process of 17th Lok Sabha Election, 2019 will be held on 23rd May, 2019 at JNRM Complex and for this purpose the following diversions are proposed for the smooth flow of traffic.

1.    Pickets/Barricades will be placed at Sinclair Junction, Municipal Market Junction (Ratnam Market), South Point, Machi Line Junction and Girls School after 0300 hrs till the end of the counting process.

2.    No vehicle shall be allowed to cross the above picket/barricade points except vehicles having necessary passes as issued by the DC Office to enter the Counting Centre Area i.e. JNRM from 0300 hrs.

3.    No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed to JNRM from any side after 0300 hrs till the end of the counting process.

4.    Vehicles without passes shall be parked on both sides of the Mahavir Singh Road upto Dharamsala Crossing. 

Hence, the general public is hereby requested to cooperate with traffic police personnel during the time of diversions and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
