Illicit Liquor Distillation Unit Busted By Diglipur Police

Port Blair, May 19: North & Middle Andaman District Police is committed to eradicate the menace of sale & distillation of spurious liquor in their jurisdiction area. To prove their commitment and dedication, special team of Police and IRBn personnel of PS Diglipur Comprising Constable Sushil Sarkar, Bijou Das, Sujay Gharami, Vijay Soreng, Rajesh, Sunit Kishore Lakra and Seemachalam conducted exhaustive search in and around Shibpur, Kalipur and Durgapur jungles. During search, an active distillation unit was busted inside Shibpur jungle where 20 liters of fermented wash, 2 No.s containers, 1 No. large pan, 1 No. large spoon and other articles used in distillation was recovered.

The search operation was conducted under the directions of Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO PS Diglipur under the close supervision of Shri Sukanth S Ballabh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer. 

Due to sustained and continuous efforts of District Police the menace of illicit distillation is nearly extinct in entire North & Middle Andaman District. One Arrested for Cultivating Cannabis

Port Blair, May 19: South Andaman Police has registered a case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and arrested one person and made recovery of 04 cannabis plants weighing 20 grams.

On 17.05.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team under the guidance of SHO Hutbay, SI V.P Mishra comprising ASI S.N Rathore, HC Mohan and PCs Ali, M.K Dey and Anirudh conducted raid at V.K Pur and recovered 04 cannabis plants weighing 20 grams from arecanut plantation of the accused person namely Sunil Baroi S/o Akhai Baroi age 69 years R/o Hutbay. 

The entire operation took place under the close supervision of SDPO Swaraj Dweep Shri Prashant Choudhary under the guidance of Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The public is requested to share information with Police at 112, 03192-232100 and 03192-232400. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.

Rich Tributes Paid to Great Andamanese

LG Leads Islanders in Paying Tributes to the Brave Warriors

 

Port Blair, May 17: Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency led the Islanders in paying rich tributes to the Great Andamanese, who laid their lives while fighting against the British regime during the battle fought in the 1859, during a solemn function held at the Memorial of the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’, Rajiv Gandhi Water   Sports Complex here this morning. The Lt. Governor laid wreath and paid tribute to the brave aborigines of the Islands.

Shri Dependra Pathak, DGP, Shri Tarun Coomar, PCCF, senior officers of A&N Administration, representatives from Great Andamanese and other eminent citizens were also present on the occasion. 

The Memorial is built at Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex in memory of those Andamanese Aborigines, who bravely fought the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’ in May 1859, against the oppressive and retaliatory policy of ‘The British Regime’.
