Two Seriously Injured as Railing of Wheel Chair Ramp Collapses at GB Pant

Port Blair, Nov. 6: Two persons were seriously injured after the railing of the wheel chair ramp at the State Referral GB Pant Hospital collapsed yesterday.

The accident took place yesterday at around 7.00 pm when an attender of an air lifted serious casualty along with his brother in law was resting their back on the ramp. With a loud noise, the entire piece of railing collapsed near the first floor and fell down along with the two.

C Kalam, 36 R/o Manarghat was the main attender who received serious cervical injuries during the accident while Sabir, the Brother In Law of Kalam suffers from lumbar spine fracture.

It was only last Friday that Kalam’s wife was airlifted from Car Nicobar after she had a head injury and admitted in the GB Pant Hospital. The unfortunate Kalam and his brother in law who had come to attend the ailing patient later ended up in being inmates of the hospital.
