Port Blair, Feb 15: A major technical snag has developed in the 33 KV Switchgear Panels of 10 MW Hiring Power Plant at Phoenix Bay Power House complex, the power output from this power plant has become “ZERO” with effect from 8 PM of 14.02.2018. The repairing work is going on in war footing basis and expected that power from this plant will be available by evening of 15.2.2018.

Due to the above mentioned problem an additional load shedding on round the clock basis is being carried out by the Electricity Department w.e.f. 8 PM of 15.2.2018, in Port Blair and South Andaman area. If required, this load shedding will be carried out continuously till completion of repairing work of 10 MW HPP switchgear panels.

All efforts are being made by the Electricity Department to set right the problem. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted, a communication from the Executive Engineer (HQ) said here today.
