Port Blair, Dec. 26: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC has requested the Director General of Police, A&N Islands to change the convoy timings on the Andaman Trunk Road. Sharma has placed a request that the timing of the convoy especially the last from Middle Strait to Port Blair be changed to 3.30 pm instead of three. He informed that the residents of North & Middle Andaman and also adjacent areas are facing problems due to the timings, which most of the time is due to sudden break down of their vehicles or sudden attack of physical disorders or otherwise. The same is being experienced by the tourists, he said.

In his letter to the DGP he has stated that the timing is not suitable for the tourists who want to return on the same day to Port Blair after visiting Mud Volcano and Lime Stone Cave at Baratang and also the general public of North & Middle Andaman and adjacent areas.

As in many cases it has found that for delay of a minute or two to reach to Middle Strait, passengers are forced to miss the convoy. They get stranded at the spot as there is no suitable place for night halt, Sharma said.
