Unused Velodrome To Be Utilized for Other Sports: Sharma

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The Velodrome constructed near Netaji Stadium was for promoting cycling as a sports but may be due to various reasons, it remained unused for years and as a result the entire area became the place of grazing filed for livestock. The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has written a letter to the Lt Governor to consider this area as cricket/ football ground for the youths of the islands, which may also be used for arranging tournaments at district and State level. This will not only encourage the local football and cricket players but also give a sober look from outside, he said.

Sharma has also suggested for synthetic tracks for various games at Netaji Sports stadium and stated that marking the tracks with chalk powder become invisible within one or two days during the sports events and either spreads over or gets washed away in case of shower confusing the players on their respective tracks.
