Nicobar Police Utilize the Occasion to Spread Awareness about Nirbheek Scheme

Port Blair, May 23: The grand finale of Dr. B. Srikanth Memorial Rolling Trophy, T-20 Cricket Tournament - Session-III organized by Nicobar District Police was held today at BJR Stadium. In the final match the defending champion Mus -A defeated the Small Lapathy -A by 9 wickets.

Prior to the prize distribution ceremony, a skit was performed by the students of Summer Camp organized by Nicobar District Police on the theme "POCSO". The skit was very informative and well presented before the audience. It was much appreciated by all village headmen and the people of Car Nicobar.

The Nicobar District Police has been successfully implementing the Nirbheek scheme. Under this Scheme, Nirbheek complaint boxes have been installed in all the schools and interactions with the school children are being done on regular basis by the local police station staff. Nicobar police has been the vanguard of this scheme in the entire Andamans. The District SP is personally monitoring the implementation of this scheme and the skit performed by the students of Summer Camp was a new initiative by the District Police. Children were motivate to approach nirbeekh box by Nicobar police without any fear.

The Deputy Commissioner, Car Nicobar, Awanish Kumar, IAS and Reginald Watchful, Dy Vice Chief of Nicobar Tribal Council were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor on the occasion along with SP Nicobar and gave away the prizes to the winners which included trophies and cash rewards.
