Port  Blair, May 23: On 22 May 18, a message was received at Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Port Blair from Havelock Tourism Department for immediate medical evacuation of a tourist  namely Mr. Ram Udhar Rai, Age-80 Yrs, Retired GM of COAL, India. The patient was reported to be suffering from Cardiac arrest. On receipt of information Indian Coast Guard Interceptor boat ICGS C-423 was despatched immediately from Port Blair to evacuate the patient from Havelock. While encountering rough sea and bad weather enroute, Coast Guard ship C-423 entered Havelock harbour and embarked the patient alongwith 03 medical/personal attendant.  During her return passage to Port Blair due medical safety precautions were taken for the comfort of the patient. ICGS C-423 arrived Coast Guard jetty, Port Blair wherein they were received by medical team and ambulance. The patient was transferred to GB PANT hospital immediately for further specialized treatment. The condition of the patient is reported to be stable. The entire operation was executed during pitch dark hours and challenging weather conditions. The Indian Coast Guard has once again depicted its commitment towards safety of personnel residing/visiting the remote islands.
