In connection with the Independence Day Celebrations - 2018, elaborate Law & order and traffic arrangements around Netaji Stadium have been planned. There would be detailed traffic arrangements to facilitate the movement of V.I.P. vehicles, invitees and general public to reach the place of function and also to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic in other parts of the city.

The main function of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations will be organized at Netaji Stadium on 15th August, 2018 (Wednesday). The Hon'ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands,Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Rtd.) will hoist the Tricolour (National Flag) at 0900 hours and take the salute of the Independence Day Parade.

 On the eve of the function, special instructions are issued to the general public who come to witness the parade at Netaji Stadium. General public is requested to not bring cameras, binoculars, handbags, briefcases, transistors, bidi – cigarette, lighters, tiffin boxes, match box, gutka, supari, water bottles, lunch boxes and sharp objects like knife, screwdriver etc. with them as all these things will not be permitted inside the stadium. 

Members of the public are requested not to touch any suspicious object. They are requested to immediately report about the presence of any unidentified/suspected object, suspicious movement of individuals & vehicles or anything out of the ordinary, to the nearest policeman.

Do’s and Don’ts:-

                The National Flag (flag) is a symbol of the Nation’s respect and pride. There is a liberal use of the flag on Independence Day.

Do’s:

             Hoist the Flag at a height in a suitable manner.

             Take care to ensure that the National Flag is not trampled upon or torn.

             Follow the instruction given by police.

             Pass on the message to your friends and help to create awareness.

Don’ts

             Do not let small children use the National Flag as a toy.

             Do not use the Flag as a banner or for decoration.

             Do not let the Flag fall on the ground.

             Do not join cloth pieces to resemble the National Flag.
