Port Blair, Sept. 17: As part of “Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada” activities, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Port Blair carried out cleaning and plantation activities in its Office and Residential Premises on Sunday. All the Engineers, (Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineers & Junior Engineers) and the staff of CPWD actively participated in these activities. 

To promote the green initiative programme, CPWD planted coconut saplings at General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA), Ranchi Basti. Each unit of CPWD planted one sapling each on the occasion.  As a vision, CPWD plans to plant one coconut tree for each quarter in its residential premises at Ranchi Basti, thereby aiming to keep the entire campus green for another 20-30 years. Shri R.Gopalakrishnan, Executive Engineer, CPWD, Port Blair spearheaded the “SWATCHHTA HI SEWA” drive.
