Port Blair, Sept. 24: A team of Police Station Pahargaon has solved a theft case within 24 hours and arrested one person with recovery of more than 100 grams of gold jewellery
On receipt of the complaint from one SmtiKarupayee, resident of Austinabad regarding house theft, a case vide crime No. 328/18 U/s 380 IPC dated 11/09/2018 was registered in PS Pahargaon. The complainant reported that during her absence in Port Blair, somebody had broken the locker of her almirah and stole all the gold jewellery from the almirah.
Immediately, the Anti-Burglary Squad of PS Pahargaon comprising SI P. Jeevan, Head Constable P. Babu Rao, Constables S.N. Pathak, Sudharsanan, Vijay Ram and Bhaskar Rao swung into action. Local informers were activated to share the information to the team.
Based on the information from the secret sources, the team also started questioning the relatives of the complainant during which the son-in-law of the complainant, Kapilan age 31 yrs R/o Austinabad, broke down and confessed to have committed the crime.
He admitted that he clandestinely used the keys of the complainant’s house and broke the locker of the almirah to steal the gold ornaments. As Kapilan could not sell the jewellery, he pledged the gold ornaments with 6 different private gold loan financers to obtain cash loan. During house search of the accused, the counterfoils of the pledged gold ornaments of financers were also recovered.
The entire stolen gold ornaments weighing 107 grams worth approx Rs. 3.5 lakhs were recovered jointly from all the private gold loan financers combinedly.
The burglary case was solved due to strenuous efforts of the Anti-Burglary Squad of PS Pahargaon quickly & also recovered the stolen jewelry. The investigation was done under the supervision of Insp. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Pahargaon under the overall supervision of Shri. Nishant Gupta, Dy. Superintendent of Police, South Andaman.
The stolen gold was pledged to take loan from private gold loan financers including one reputed gold loan financers. The Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, Shri. Vijay Singh, IPS, also held a meeting with private financers and money lenders to apprise them about the precaution to be taken in such cases. They were cautioned to undertake proper enquiry with the customers before entering into such agreement with unknown persons.
