“Cooperatives Key for Organic Farming and Zero Budget Farming”

Port Blair, Nov. 15: The 2nd Day of the 65th All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2018 was held on 15th Nov, 2018 at the premises of Basanti Puja Community Hall Guptapara. Shri K Murugan, Managing Director, A & N State Coop. Bank Ltd. Port Blair was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme was also attended by Smti Appalnarasimha, Pradhan, Gupatara Panchayat, Shri. N N Nag, Chairman, Netaji Service Cooperative Society Ltd, Manglutan, Shri Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), Shri Srinivasan, General Manager, ANCOFED, Shri Susanto Biswas, Head Master and Various Cooperative Institutions, Representatives of various Apex and Central Level Cooperatives, Govt. officials, PRI members and a large gathering of general public and Islanders.

At the beginning, Shri Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, NCUI, welcomed all the delegates to the 2nd Day of 65th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2018. He further informed that since the first day of Cooperative week was inaugurated at A & N State Coop. Union, today is the second day in which different topic will be discussed, during the week long programme an experts from various Cooperative sectors will be discussed each and every aspects through seminars, workshops and Power point Presentations from various Cooperative Organizations.

While addressing the huge gathering assembled, as a chief Guest Shri K Murugan, Managing Director, A & N State Coop. Bank Ltd., stressed the importance of Cooperative movement in the A&N Islands by citing the example of A & N State coop. Bank Ltd. while being a society to Bank, so far the bank has helped every farmer of islanders by disbursed Agricultural and Govt. Sponsored loans.

Further, he applause an importance of Primary Agricultural Cooperative society (PACS) working in the islands. He also informed the gathering that in a few days later the PACS will convert into full Core Banking Solutions and Computerization mode, presently with the help of NABARD, NAFSCOB and GoI is formulating Human Resource (HR) Policy for the PACS secretaries to provide uniform cadre/ Grade Pay system in the PACS.

Shri. Suresh Babu, In-charge Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative Training Centre, (RGCTC) also spoke on the topic “Cooperatives Key for Organic Farming and Zero Budget Farming”  by highlighting the importance of Co-operative Week to the gathering. He further addressed the gathering about importance of Organic Farming and the best practices. At the earlier stage of time without usage of Fertilizers and Pesticides there was a pure quality of foodstuff was available which is free from all chemical influences. He later on recommended by citing the best examples for farming practices for usage of Organic farming and their best practices on usage. He further cited the example’s of various Organic Farming practices being take over by many private companies. 

Smti Appalnarshimha, Pradhan, Guptapara Panchayat and Shri N N Nag, Chairman, Netaji Service Coop. Society Ltd, Manglutan also spoke on importance of organic farming  on the occasion. At the outset Shri N N Nag informed the gathering that since the Neil Island was first declared as Organic Island and need to work more in the organic farm practices in the island. He further added that all the Line departments, should come forward and work together for rapid and sustainable growth on Organic farm practices in the islands through cooperative sector. 

The Programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Miss Sumitra Kumari, Cooperative Education Instructor (CEI), A & N State Cooperative union. Teylerabad.
