Port Blair, Nov.  15: The ‘Workshop on field work practicum of social work Programmes’ jointly organized by the IGNOU Regional Centre Port Blair and School of Social Work, IGNOU, New Delhi was inaugurated by Dr. Poonam Arora Chair Person Andaman & Nicobar State Social Welfare Board. The programme was presided by Dr.S.Ganesan Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Port Blair. A key note address  was delivered by Shri. B.V.S. Prasad General Manager, NABARD, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Dr.Rose Nembiakkim Director SOSW,  IGNOU,  New Delhi and Dr. Saumya Assistant Professor  SOSW,  New Delhi  were the subject experts  for the workshop.

The workshop was attend by various NGOs like Bridge of Hope, Vidya Yuva Kendra Foundation, Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre, Red Cross Society, Colours Foundation, Sudhaar, BWDA ,  academic councellors,  students of MSW/BSW  Programmes  and other social workers.  The workshop provided an interface between the NGOs and students, wherein the students had an opportunity to interact with various stakeholders in the Social and Development sectors. 

The job opportunities available in the Social and Development platforms, the methods on which the field work has to be performed in various social sectors, the importance of social work and the development of self in today’s scenario in bringing up and uplifting the society is the outcome of the workshop.
