Port Blair, Dec. 17:  The Islanders Social Movement for Awareness and Training (ISMAT), a women’s initiative, working among women and children recently organized and inter-school discussion-cum-competition in six schools of South Andaman, for students studying of Class VI to VIII on the topic “Reclaiming Our Childhood”. The discussion was conducted by Rtn Abhijit Agarwal, Motivational Speaker and Quiz Master.

The discussion evoked the sense of onslaught of technology and race for academic excellence at the cost of childhood, which remains neglected and uncared for. Students were motivated to connect with their reality and get away from the early onset of adulthood. They were motivated to have higher goals in life and utilize education to become good human beings rather than just as career options. Students from all schools actively participated in the discussion and presented their views about their childhood, ambitions and goals.

The discussion were conducted in six schools viz. Ummat Public School, Khalsa Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya-I, Govt. Model Senior Sec. School, Sagaritara and Crescent Public School. Five students from each school were selected for the Finale, which will be held on 19th Dec 18 at Islamic Guidance Centre, Port Blair from 9-30 am to 12-30 pm.

The finale will be based on the discussions with a write up, extempore talk and a group activity, and the total sum of marks will be evaluated for selecting the winners.
