Port Blair, Jan 18: An all political party meeting was held on 18th January 2019 by Shri. K. R. Meena, Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Secretariat Conference Hall to apprise the political parties regarding the Electoral Process undertaken in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Islands briefed the participants that extensive House to House enumeration process was taken up at all places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the draft Electoral Rolls were published on 01/09/2018.

Total 406 Booth Level Officers were engaged for updation of the Electoral Rolls.

The BLOs were appointed at 348 notified designated locations by the Electoral Registration Officer for continuous updation of the Electoral Roll

The Entire process of updation of Electoral Roll was completed based on the qualifying date of age as on 01/01/2019 and the final Electoral Roll was published on 14/01/2019.

It was further informed that as per directions of Election Commission of India, Special Camps will be held throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for updation of left out voters, if any.

Appeal was made to all Political Parties to request the general public who have not enrolled as voters to come forward and get their names included in Electoral Roll by filling Form No.6.

A toll free number 1950 has also been setup in the State Contact Centre/District Contact Centre for convenience of general public for any grievance related to Electoral Roll and Election related process.

It was further informed that two copies of photo electoral roll shall be made available free of cost, one of which would be a printed copy and the other soft Pdf copy, to the recognized national and state political parties as provided in Rule 11(c) of Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

It was also requested that Booth Level Agents may be appointed by the Political Parties who shall provide assistance to the Booth Level Officers designated for enumeration and continuous updation of Electoral Roll so that a healthy and error free Electoral Roll could be finalized. 

All political parties were requested to motivate voters to check their entries in final electoral roll by using helpline 1956, NVSP and other facilities provided by the Commission under (VVIP) to ensure error free Electoral Roll.
