Port Blair, Jan 21: In the last three days, the staff of Aberdeen Police Station has cracked two theft cases and arrested three notorious thieves namely Rajiv Biswas s/o Shri. Robin Biswas, Sandeep Guha s/o Late Shankar Guha and MonotoshMondalS/o Shri. Tarak Mondal and recovered the stolen properties.

On 15-01-2019, a written complaint was received from Shri Mohd Ahamed in which he stated that someone had stolen a sum of Rs. 2 Lakh from his fruit shop and upon this a case vide FIR No. 32/2019 dt. 15-01-2019 u/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Aberdeen. Another case vide FIR No. 39/2019 dt. 17-01-2019 u/s 457/380/411/34 IPC was also registered on the complaint of Shri Govinda Swamy in which he stated that his office articles like tea maker, wall clocks, emergency lights etc.have been stolen from his office.

Upon this, the special team of PS Aberdeen consisting of SI Usman Ali, SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, HC Ibrahim Ali, HC V. Hentho, HC V. Saji Kumar, PC D. Shiv Kumar & PC Vinod linya under close supervision of Inspr. A. K. Singh, SHO PS Aberdeen started investigation and deployed their sources to know the whereabouts of the known criminals. Technical surveillance was mounted to crack both these cases.

The modus operandi of the crimes was also analysedand after receiving credible information from reliable source, one suspect namely Rajiv Biswas s/o Shri. Robin Biswas R/o Shadipur was apprehended.During interrogation the accused confessed committing crime in the FIR No. 32/2019 dt. 15-01-2019 u/s 457/380 IPC and he was arrested.The accused Rajiv Biswas had been previously involved in following 6 cases of PS Aberdeen:

1.   FIR No.            897/2015 u/s 457/380 IPC

2.   FIR No.            307/2017 u/s 379 IPC

3.   FIR No.            37/2018 u/s 457/380 IPC

4.  FIR No.             222/2018 u/s 379 IPC

5.   FIR No.            226/2018 u/s 379 IPC

6.  FIR No.             32/2019 u/s 457/380 IPC

Other, suspects namely Sandeep Guha s/o Late Shankar Guha (31yrs) R/o Juglighat and Monotosh Mondal S/o Shri Tarak Mondal (24yrs) R/o Bhatu Basti were also apprehended at Junglighat due to their involvement in FIR No. 39/2019 During sustained interrogation, they revealed that they had sold some of the stolen articles to SK Saber Ali S/o Shri SK Ohab Ali (26 yrs) R/o Junglighat. These items were also recovered from SK Saber and he was also arrested as receiver of stolen property in the same case. Accused Sandeep Guha is notorious criminal and had been involved in the following 17 cases of theft and burglary:

11.          FIR No. 209/2007 u/s 224/34 IPC

12.          FIR No. 133/2009 u/s 20 (b)(ii)(A) NDPS Act

13.          FIR No. 273/2009 u/s 454/380/411 IPC

14.          FIR No. 613/2016 u/s 454/380 IPC

15.          FIR No. 118/2017 u/s 454/392/34 IPC

The accused Monotosh Mandalis also a notorious burglar and he is involved in the following 6 cases of theft and burglary:

3.             FIR No. 150/16 u/s 457/380 IPC

4.             FIR No. 84/17 u/s 447/380/427 IPC

5.             FIR No. 86/17 u/s 454/380/427 IPC

The special team has worked extremely hard in cracking such blind cases and has always put tremendous & skilled efforts to perform their duties. The entire operation took place under the overall supervision of SDPO (SA) Shri. Nishant Gupta.
