The great diversities in our sub-continental homes in food, language and dress are distinctly visible everywhere in our Country and textile is no different. Notwithstanding the Cultural unity and diversity that the Indian Sub-Continent has had from time immemorial, the traditional textile industry has displayed an array of exotic handwovens proving the point beyond doubt the spirit of unity in diversity. The textile industry as a whole has displayed this diversity in every sphere of its activity. The technological diverse in the mechanized textile industry is also as diverse as the hand woven industry. From hand spinning Khadi industry to highly technological open-end spinning, from loin loom in the North-East to the sophisticated high speed shuttle-less air jet looms, the field is wide open in diversity. Not only machinery, it has also diverse methods of weaving from throw shuttle to automatic shuttleless looms, smaller width of fabric ranging from 18"in loin looms in the Northeast to 120" width fabrics, from hand dying to highly skilled auto dying, hand designing to CAD and digital designing and printing, from coarse fabrics to the finest fabrics the seminar will discuss and deliberate the diversity in totality. Not to leave behind the glamorousfashion textiles, global trends for various markets, colour forecast and trends, use of multifibre and development of innovative fibres, fabrics and clothing will be covered in the seminar. To conclude, the eye catching diversity may not be visible in future with Western influence to make look all similar. Hence, the need is to discuss and document some of the glaring diversities in textiles which will be done in this seminar.

The All India Seminar will be organized in a befitting manner considering the importance of the subject and participation by high profile professionals in State & Central Ministries and those in the area of Textile Industry are being invited to present technical papers.  The views of the Speakers and participants of the Seminar will be consolidated and a report with recommendations will be prepared. The recommendations will be forwarded to the concerned authorities.

The main objective of the Seminar is to bring in the views of the various stake holders of the industry to formulate jointly a common policy to develop an immunity of the system to prevent major crisis of the industry as a whole and to withhold the unavoidable surge. The Seminar will provide a common platform for the Textile Experts, Government Officials, Institutions and professionals to exchange their views on the emerging technologies for the global trends in Fashion and Clothing. The prospective Textile Experts, the budding Engineers will be able to gain knowledge on various aspects of Textile Industry in general and new economic options available for practical implementation of various levels in particular.
