Port Blair, Jan 22: It is hereby informed to the general public that 9th National Voters’ Day shall be celebrated at State, District and Booth Level throughout A&N Islands on 25th January, 2019 along with other parts of the country with the theme of “NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND” in view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha -2019 with the aim of maximizing enrolment and building awareness in the run up to such election in this UT also.  With the theme, the activities shall also be taken up to target all segments including women, youths, persons with disabilities (PwDs), senior citizens, service voters, Overseas Indians besides other marginalised sections of the society.

Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) shall also steer the NVD celebrations in Educational Institutions Chunav Pathshala at polling stations shall act as the hub for pre-NVD activities and shall be roped in for the NVD functions at the PS level. Besides, a massive programme is being launched under SVEEP the flagship programme of Election Commission to create awareness among the eligible voters.  It is appealed to all eligible voters especially the youth who completed 18 years of age, women and physically challenged voters to ensure their enrolment in the voter list which is a precondition to exercise their right to vote.  All voters should also check their entries in the voters list by using out helpline 1950 or ECI’s web portal www.nvsp.eci.gov.in. 

The UT level function shall be celebrated at JNRM College, Port Blair in a grand manner.  Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and Chief Secretary will be the guest of honour.
