Port Blair, Feb 14: As a part of weeklong observation of ‘World Cancer Day’ week, the AYUSH Wing of DHS & Andaman & Nicobar State AYUSH Society in collaboration with (NPCDCS) of NHM’, organized awareness talk and AYUSH health camp at Panchayat Hall of Wandoor (AYUSH Gram) on 13.02.2019. The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr. Omkar Singh, Nodal Officer (NPCDCS) in the presence of Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH), Dr. C. Rani, M.O (Homoeo), Shri. Ram Bala, Pradhan, Wandoor and other PRI members.

Dr. Omkar Singh highlighted about the importance of regular screening for early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCD) like Diabetes, Hypertension and Cancer. He emphasized about the theme - ‘I am & I will’ of World Cancer Day and said that every individual should take the responsibility to fight against this dreadful disease.

Dr.Kalyan P. Kadbhane stressed about the importance of healthy living by following regular exercise and balanced diet. He also appealed the public to avail the benefit of Yoga, Ayurveda and Homoeopathic system of medicine.

Shri. Ram Bala, Pradhan, Wandoor appreciated the efforts of Health Department for creating the awareness of Cancer & other diseases and also conducting health camps for the rural people. 

The health camp and screening of NCDs were conducted by doctors of AYUSH Hospital, PHC Manglutan, PHC Tusnabad and team of NPCDCS. Fruits were distributed to the villagers to promote healthy diet.
