Port Blair City Bags First Position for ‘Best Digital Payment Innovator’

Port Blair, Feb 14: The Port Blair City has contested in ‘Smart Cities Digital Payment Awards 2018’, conducted by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt of India. Amongst the 100 ‘Smart City Participants, the Port Blair City has secured the first position for being the ‘Best Digital Payment Innovator’ that focused on Digital Payment. 

To achieve the above, PBMC  has adopted the optimum use of digital payment methods to help residents who had to otherwise stand in long queues to avail government services. In  order to minimize interference and maximize citizen interaction and to implement Govt. of  India’s initiative towards cashless, paperless governance, PBMC has facilitated various modes of accepting payment through digital platforms which includes; facility of payment through Bharat QR Code, Facility of payment through Bhim App, POS Machines installed at Office Counters, Online Payment facility for payment of Property Tax, Water & Conservancy Tax through payment gateway, Payment facility through Credit Card, Debit Card & Internet Banking, Aadhar enabled payment facility, Facility of Payment f Taxes/ Charges in 19 Common Service Centres (CSCs).  The  PBMC  has also signed an MoU with SBI to onboard Bharat Bill Payment System.
