Port Blair, April 22: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands demanded additional services of boats from Diglipur, Mayabunder and Southern Group of Islands to meet the summer vacation rush. The Association also demanded additional bus services by the STS Department from Diglipur,Mayabunder,Billyground ,Rangat, Kadamtala and Baratang to Port Blair to accommodate the expected heavy rush of the Govt. Employees and general public at the beginning of summer vacation. The A & N Administration has declared the summer vacation of the Schools and other educational institutions of the Island territory from 1^st May 2019. 

In a letter addressed to the Director of Shipping Services the General Secretary of the Association, Shri T S Sreekumar,demanded sailing of big vessels from the southern group of Islands on 30th April and 1st May to cater the needs of a large number of teachers and the general public who wanted to reach Port Blair for their onward journey to mainland. The Association is also requested additional boat services from Little Andaman, Mayabunder and Diglipur. In another letter addressed to the Director of Transport the General Secretary demanded additional bus services from various out stations on  30th April,1st and  2nd  May,2019 to give relief to a large number of teachers, other Govt. employees and general public who have planned their onward journey from Port Blair just after the closing of Schools on 30th April,2019.
