Port Blair, May 16: This year the 50th Anniversary of World Telecommunication & Information Society Day will be celebrated on 17th May 2019. The Day marks the founding of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 17 May 1865, when the first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris. To mark the occasion, ITU, the United Nations specialized agency for information & communications technology (ICT) has selected the theme as “Bridging the standardization gap”. 

Alongwith all State & Local Centres of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), the Andaman & Nicobar State Centre (ANSC) has proposed to celebrate the same at 3.00 pm on Friday, 17th May 2019 at the Conference Hall of the ALHW office by having technical talk / PPT presentations by Engineers / Officers from BSNL (Er. Rahul Ramesh Rane, GM (Admin. & Planning) Airtel, & Jio.. Engineering Fraternity from various departments / organizations who will be taking part in the proceedings.
