LG Leads Islanders in Paying Tributes to the Brave Warriors

 

Port Blair, May 17: Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency led the Islanders in paying rich tributes to the Great Andamanese, who laid their lives while fighting against the British regime during the battle fought in the 1859, during a solemn function held at the Memorial of the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’, Rajiv Gandhi Water   Sports Complex here this morning. The Lt. Governor laid wreath and paid tribute to the brave aborigines of the Islands.

Shri Dependra Pathak, DGP, Shri Tarun Coomar, PCCF, senior officers of A&N Administration, representatives from Great Andamanese and other eminent citizens were also present on the occasion. 

The Memorial is built at Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex in memory of those Andamanese Aborigines, who bravely fought the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’ in May 1859, against the oppressive and retaliatory policy of ‘The British Regime’.
