Port Blair, May 20: The team of South Andaman Police has registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 and arrested two persons with 230 gram of illicit Charas.

On 18.05.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team under the guidance of SHO PS Humfrigunj, SI Aditya Narayan comprising SI P.C. Manickam, & PC Saira Banu alongwith the special team of NDPS, South Andaman District consisting of SI Surjit Battacharjee, ASI Sanjay Yadav, PCs Jayanta Kumar Biswas & S. Nanak Singh conducted raids near Wandoor and Supply Line, Aberdeen Bazar and recovered 230 grams of illicit charas from the possessions of accused persons namely Sandip Mondal S/o Late Ukin Mondal, 40 yrs R/o New Wanddor & Imroz Alam S/o Late Mohammed Kalimuddin, 28 yrs R/o Dignabad.

The entire operation took place under the close supervision of SDPO Bambooflat Shri. Manoj Kumar Meena under the overall supervision of Shri. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. 

Due to special emphasis of South Andaman District Police on eradication of menace of drugs, this year so far 27 cases under NDPS Act have been registered and 33 persons have been arrested with recovery of 16.383 Kgs of illicit ganja, 230 grams Charas, 6810 tablets of psychotropic substances, 520 bottles of cough syrups and 04 cannabis plant. The general public is requested to share information with Police at 112, 03192-232100, 03192-233077 and 03192-232400. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
