Port Blair, May 21: The Tribal Development Council (TDC), A&N Islands and New Delhi YMCA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. Under the MoU, the New Delhi YMCA will be helping the well known NGO in promoting art, culture and sport among the islanders especially the tribal communities.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Rashid Yusoof, Chairman TDC and Mr. Joseph Benjamin, General Secretary and CEO of YMCA New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion Benjamin expressed his happiness to be associated with the Tribal Development Council. He said that it’s a historic partnership as it comes when the world YMCA movement is celebrating 175 years of its existence. Efforts in  this regard will also have a global impact and  add Port Blair’s foot print in the world tourism platform.

Rashid Yusoof, Chairman TDC expressed his gratitude to YMCA New Delhi for considering TDC as a partner. He hoped that with the support of YMCA and the A&N Administration the TDC will go a long way in developing the lost tribal culture and tradition which was wiped away during the tsunami of 2004. 

On the occasion, Mr. Benjamin also announced that New  Delhi YMCA would organize a National Tribal Festival in Andaman & Nicobar Islands in cooperation with the TDC  and the A&N Administration.
