Port Blair, June 20: The FOD (Field Operations Division) of NSO (National Statistical Office), Port Blair will organise an Essay and a Quiz competition for students currently studying in University/Colleges on 27th June, 2019 at its Kendriya Sadan Office premises to mark Statistics Day. The theme of the celebration this year is “Sustainable Development Goals”.

The topic for the essay competition will also be ““Sustainable Development Goals”. The word limit for the essay will be 2500 words.  The competition will be held on 27th June, 2019 from 10 am to 1 pm. 

Similarly, the quiz competition will also be held on 27th June, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm.  Quiz competition will be broadly on the topics relevant to Economics, Statistics and on the theme of the celebration. 

The winners of the Essay Competition will be awarded cash prize of Rs.2500, Rs. 2000 and Rs.1500 for the first, second and third prize respectively.  The winners of the Quiz Competition will be awarded cash prize of Rs.2000, Rs. 1500 and Rs.1000 for the first, second and third prize respectively. 

The students who wish to participate in these competitions may report at the office of NSO, Kendriya Sadan, B Block, 2nd Floor, Lamba Line by 9:30 am on 27th June, 2019 with identity proof from college/University. 

The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) has been renamed as National Statistical office (NSO) by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, recently. Statistics Day is observed on 29th June every year.
