Port Blair, July 23: The President Nicobar Youth Association, Rayhaan Pasha along with the Chairman Tribal Council Great and Little Nicobar, Barnabas and the Vice Chairman Tribal Council Teressa, Johnah Paul met the Chief Secretary, Chetan B Sanghi in his Chamber and discussed the burning issues of people in the Nicobars. The issues were regarding Shipping where the delegation highlighted the irregular Speedboat from Campbell bay to Great Nicobar Island i.e. Afrabay, Makachua and in Little Nicobar island viz. Pulo-ulo, Pulobha, Pulo Phanja. Similarly in the Nancowry group of islands including Teressa and Chowra. The schedule of the speed boats is not fixed, which is causing problems. The delegation requested that the speed boat schedule is to be fixed on regular basic.

Regarding roads, the delegation apprised the CS that the road repair works need to be done as the roads have not been repaired since the time of its constructed after tsunami.

The delegation also requested for improvement in water supply to all households, Construction of BSNL Tower for Mobile connections in remote villages/Islands in Great & Little Nicobar and Teressa/Chowra Islands, Construction of Civil Supply Godown at Afrabay in Great Nicobar and Makachua in Little Nicobar Island, Permanent Arrangement for transportation of fuel and other essential commodities from Campbell bay to Afrabay, Makachua and in Little Nicobar Island i.e. Pulo-ulo, Pulobha, Pulo Phanja. 

The Chief Secretary has assured to take necessary action. The President Nicobar Youth Association, Rayhaan Pasha and the tribal leaders expressed their happiness to have met the Chief Secretary and for the positive response received.
