Port Blair, Aug 14: ICAR - Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) conducted a training programme on the topic “Use of  CIARI- Bioconsortia for Plant Health Management” on 09.08.2018 at Collinpur.The training programme was inaugurated by Shri. Mahadev Majhi, Pradhan of Collinpur panchayat office. The programme was conducted by the MGMG team consisting of Dr.R.K.Gautam, Principal Scientist, Dr. V. Baskaran, Principal Scientist, Dr. K. Sakthivel, Scientist, Dr. Rafeeque, Scientist, Mrs. Archana Sharma, STO and Mr. Shyam Sunder Rao, T-3.  A total of 35 men and women farmers from Hubdipur, Manpur, Collinpur, Templemeyo and Herpetabad attended the program. Shri. Mahadev Majhi, Pradhan appraised the gathering about the importance of MGMG programme, the requirement of farmers and the various activities undertaken by ICAR-CIARI for island farmer welfare. Team leader Dr. R. K. Gautam explained the status and importance of organic farming in the islands  and available technologies in this regard. Dr.K. Sakthivel informed about the methods of application of biocontrol agents and microbial formulations in plant health management. Mrs. Archana Sharma and Mr. Shyam Sundar Rao demonstrated the field level mass multiplication of CIARI Bioconsortia and its applications. Dr. Rafeeque discussed about the recommendation on best breeds of goat and poultry. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr, Shyam Sundar Rao, Technical Assistant. The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
