Port Blair, Sept 13: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Port Blair in collaboration with Animal Science Division, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair and Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration organized a Workshop on “Vaccination and disease management and artificial insemination and productivity” Programme yesterday in the conference hall of KVK, Port Blair. Shri Sanjib Kumar Mondal, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Chief Guest of the occasion appreciated the activities of ICAR–KVK, Port Blair for the socio-economic up-liftmen of Islands’ farming community. He also emphasized for conducting such programme at panchayat level in South Andaman. Dr. Bikar Singh, Director, Dept. AH&VS, briefed the role of Dept. of AH&VS in prevention and control of animal diseases in this Islands. He also highlighted the significance of artificial insemination and its benefit. Dr. B. Gangaiah, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIARI, highlighted the role of ICAR-KVK and ICAR-CIARI in prevention and control of animal diseases such as brucellosis, foot and mouth disease in these Islands. He briefed on the role of women in animal husbandry activities and also encouraged the women participants to take benefit of this programme. Dr. Laishram Brojendra Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, Dr. Ashok Gupta, Senior Veterinary Officer and Dr. Jai Sunder, Principal Scientist, Animal Science Division, ICAR-CIARI were the other resource persons of the workshop. 

Earlier, Dr. N.C. Choudhuri, CTO (Animal Science) welcomed the dignitaries. The demonstration on FMD vaccination, Artificial Insemination and Animal Health Campaign was also organized. The participants also watched the Live telecast of launching programme on National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) and National Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP) by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji at Mathura, U.P. A total of 105 participants including farmers, farmwomen and officials participated in the Programme.
