Port Blair, Sept. 13: Two Police Fire officers of the Police Fire Services have been bestowed with the Lt. Governor’s Commendation Certificate today at Raj Niwas by the Lt. Governor, in the presence of Chief Secretary, DGP and other Senior Officers of the Administration, for their act of bravery and exemplary timely intervention, to avert a fire accident that took place on the vessel MV Mus at New Dry Dock on 10.09.2019 at 1430 hrs. They included SI Arun Chandra Paul, Station Officer, Fire Station Marine and SI Shaibal Sinha, Fire Service, Headquarter. 

MV Mus was undergoing underwater repairs and docking survey. Fire broke out in the forward star board fuel tank during cutting of ship side plate. The fire was extinguished with the help of A&N Police Fire Services, Ship Staff and Dockyard Staff (Disaster Management). The entry to the fire spot was very difficult as the manhole was very small but due to courageous action of fire personnel, the fire was brought under control by 1515 hrs. Additional Water Bouzer, Breathing Apparatus set, cutting tools and smoke extinguisher blower were used. No damage to the property was reported.
