Port Blair, Sept 16: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Chetan B. Sanghi, accompanied by the Secretary to Lt. Governor, Shri Kulanand Joshi, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (APWD & Civil Aviation), Dr. V Candavelou, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Abhishek Dev and the Secretary (IP&T), Dr. Pooja Joshi visited Hut Bay on Sept. 14, 2019.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary held a review meeting with officials of the Departments of Power, Education, Social Welfare, Industries and Health, followed by a discussion with the public representatives of Hut Bay. Discussions were held in great detail for each Department by the Chief Secretary, assisted by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, regarding the problems and various proposals being undertaken by the Administration.

The Chief Secretary also visited Netaji Nagar Tourism Site and interacted with the local representatives besides the Desiccated Coconut Powder Factory-Riflex Industry, Palm Grove (Red Oil Project), PHC RK Pur, Electricity Power Station, Landing Site (Under Sea Cable) VVET Restaurant/Guest House, Kalapathar and Butler Bay beaches, PWD Water Treatment Plant. 

It is not too often that a team of such high level officers led by none other than the Chief Secretary himself visits a remote island and takes time out to interact with the PRIs and general public. It can be hoped that the promises of the Chief Secretary to the people would see the light of the day.
