Eligible Beneficiaries Urged to Visit Nearest CSC for Enrollment Under PM-SYM Pension Scheme

Port Blair, Dec 3: The inaugural programme of Pension Week was held in the Conference hall of Office of the Labour Commissioner and Directorate of Employment & Training recently. Shri Krishna Kumar, Secretary (Labour) was the chief guest while Shri Sailendra Singh, Director of Social Welfare was the guest of honour. A large number of stakeholders unorganized sector workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers/Helpers and self-employed persons participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary stated  that the Govt. of India has recently unveiled two contributory pension schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Pension Scheme (PM-SYM), which is meant for all unorganized workers including ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers/helper, Fisherman, MGNAREGA workers, domestic workers etc. and National Pension Scheme for Self-employed persons (NPS-Traders). The eligible beneficiary shall be in the age group of 18-40 years and have to contribute Rs.55-200 per month depending upon their age. He exhorted all eligible beneficiaries to visit the nearest CSC along with Aadhar Card and Jandhan/Saving Bank Account for enrolment in this pension scheme so as to enable to get pension at the rate of Rs.3,000/- per month on attainment of 60 years of age. 

The Labour Commissioner & DET in his address urged the eligible beneficiaries to get themselves enrolled in the Pension Scheme. He also informed that the Labour Department will be organizing awareness-cum-spot enrolment camps in different locations of A&N Islands during the Pension Week/Saptah which has commenced from Nov 30 and will continue upto Dec 6.
