Port Blair, Dec. 3: To curb down the menace of drugs from these Islands, the team of South Andaman Police has once again proved their efficiency and booked one accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with a recovery of 4.100 Kgs of Ganja.

On 03.12.2019, a credible information was received regarding possession of huge quantity of ganja with a Go Air passenger from Kolkatta, upon this a raiding team led by Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen comprising SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, ASI Sanjay Yadav, PCs Ashish Mallick, S. Nanak Singh, M. Raja Rao & PC(D) Sanchit Lall was constituted. During continuous checking of passengers at the arrival parking of Airport, one person namely Raghulal Barui S/o Late. Indramohan Barui, 34 yrs R/o Ranga Maitya, Bankura District, West Bengal was framed and while carrying checking, a total of 4.100 Kgs of Ganja was recovered. 

The entire operation took place under Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, SDPO South Andaman under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
