Port Blair, Dec 11: The Indian Coast Guard is celebrating the “Swachhta Pakhwada’’ between 01 -15 Dec throughout the Isles, spreading the GOI flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The Coast Guard is conducting various special cleanship drives aiming to spread awareness and implementation across the Coast Guard establishments in A & N Region, residential areas and beaches with a focus on cleanliness and creation of a clean and healthy habitat, free of single use plastics. The possible areas towards “SwachhtaAbhiyan” includes beaches, cleaning of in and around areas of Coast Guard establishments/residential area. 

On 11 Dec 19, Indian Coast Guard Personnel undertook special cleanship drive in their respective office premises, Tatrakshak Vihar (Coast Guard residential area) and Coast Guard Jetty. During the ‘SwachhtaAbhiyan’, Coast Guard personnel used jute bags and bio-friendly gloves to collect the trash/plastic. Indian Coast Guard is committed to make its office premises, residential and surrounding areas neat, clean and free from single use plastic.
