Port Blair, Jan 14: The A&N Police is observing 31st Road Safety Week from 11th to 17th January 2020 on the theme “Bringing change through Youth Power”. During the observance of the week on 14/01/2020, a Road Safety Walk was organized by the Andaman & Nicobar Traffic Police. The Director General of Police, Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and flagged off the walk from the National Memorial Cellular Jail.

Around 1000 students from various schools and colleges participated in the walk. Besides school students, Police Departmental personnel and general public including tourists also showed their concern and solidarity for Road Safety by participating in the rally in large numbers.

The Director General of Police, along with Senior Officers of A&N Police walked along with the rally as well. Holding banners, placards, and chanting slogans the rally walked to the tunes of the A&N Police pipe band, spreading the message of road safety and observance of traffic rules.

Addressing the gathering Pathak spoke of the need to follow traffic rules, observe safety on the road and how the youth had to take a lead in ensuring the roads become safer for all. Mentioning the importance of traffic in everyday life, he exhorted road safety and the need to spread its message among the masses.
