On the occasion of Police Raising Day, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the police personnel of A & N Islands and acknowledge their irreplaceable role in maintaining law & order, crime prevention and in providing safe and secure environment to the Islanders.

After independence, it was on 16th January 1953, that Mr. Naushirwan Feroz Sauntook, the first IPS Officer took over the charge of the Superintendent of Police from Shri M Macfarland. This day is celebrated as the “Raising Day” of the Andaman & Nicobar Police.

It gives me immense pleasure to learn that Andaman & Nicobar Police is celebrating its Police Raising Week from 16/01/2020 to 23/01/2020 by organizing various activities and programmes to improve Public Police Interface, such as awareness drives on social and contemporary issues in schools, colleges, and residential areas, cultural-cum-interaction programmes involving public and police families, visit of school children to Police Stations, Jan Sampark and Citizen Committee Meetings, Nukkad Natak and performance by Police Entertainment Team and Police Band etc. These are also in furtherance of #New Andaman initiatives.

On this occasion, I expect that Andaman & Nicobar Police will continue to discharge their duties with dedication and sincerity to extend effective services to the people of these Islands and will show greater professionalism, transparency and sensitivity in their functioning.

I wish all the A & N Police Personnel and their families the very best.
