Port Blair, Jan 16: A free eye-test camp was also organised by A&NI Traffic Police on 14/01/2020 at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall. Ophthalmologists from G.B Pant Hospital and Agarawal Eye Hospital, RGT Road provided their expert facilities for the welfare of general public for free of cost. The free eye test camp was aimed at bus drivers, truck drivers and autorickshaw drivers who are unable to get such facilities easily and drive late at night causing more eye damage. The camp witnessed large participation and was applauded by the public at large.

Moreover, a painting competition on the theme of “Youth and Road Safety” was organised by A&N Traffic Police on 14/01/2020. The competition was held at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall under three categories i.e (1) Class VI to VIII, (2) Class IX & X (3) XI & XII in which students of various schools of Port Blair city participated. The colourful paintings depicted the necessity of road safety awareness, and how road safety was critical to saving lives. The children displayed utmost creativity showing how traffic police, and public need to work hand in hand to eliminate loss of lives in road accidents. The winners of the competition will be declared on 17/01/2020.
