CS Appreciates the Initiatives Taken by A&N Police

 

Port Blair, Jan.23: As part of the Police Raising Week celebrations, various programmes were organized by the A&N Police in different parts of the Islands, which culminated with ‘Police Utsav’ at ITF Ground here today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Chetan B. Sanghi was the chief guest during the cultural programme, that marked the valediction of the Week. The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, DGP, A&N Islands, Shri Dependra Pathak, President, Police Family Welfare Centre, Smti Geeta Pathak, senior officers from the Administration besides family members of police personnel attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary lauded the programmes presented by the Police Entertainment Team (PET) and children of Police personnel. He appreciated the exemplary efforts of the A&N Police in displaying vigour and enthusiasm while safeguarding the citizens of the Islands besides maintaining law and order. He appreciated the various initiatives of the A&N Police such as the services provided by Parakram, Satark, Tourists Police, Pink Police besides delivering excellent security services during VVIP visits to the Islands and drug control etc. The Chief Secretary also expressed happiness that two Police Stations of A&N Islands have brought laurels to the Islands and the Policing fraternity by being recognised as ‘Best Police Stations’. He also urged the Police Personnel to continue to exhibit the same vigour and enthusiasm while delivering services for the welfare of the Islanders.

The Chief Secretary also informed about the transformational changes the A&N Islands are poised to witness in few months, once the OFC project is completed. This will further improve the Policing services in the Islands, he added. The Chief Secretary also presented awards to the winners of inter-unit annual sports meet -2019 & 2020 and special achievers.

In his address, the DGP complimented the police personnel for their efforts towards safeguarding the citizens of the Islands besides providing security and maintaining law and order. He lauded PS Aberdeen for having won the Best Police Station Award during the DGPs/IGPs conference held in 2019 and Police Station Campbell Bay for securing the second position last year. He also expressed happiness that three police stations of the Islands viz. PS Car Nicobar, PS Nancowry and PS Campbell Bay have become ISO 9001:2015 certified, which he said is indeed a matter of great pride for A&N Police.  

Earlier, the President Police Family Welfare Centre, Smti Geeta Pathak inaugurated the Police Utsav, which was followed by cultural programmes and various interesting events and prize distribution. 

The Superintendent of Police (AP), Smti Usha Rangnani, while welcoming the gathering elaborated on the various events that were organized as part of Police Raising Week celebrations.
