Port Blair, Jan 27: Republic day was celebrated by Pradesh Congress Committee on 26th January, 2020 at Gandhi Bhavan at 7.30 AM in befitting manner. Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President , PCC and Member of Parliament unfurled the National Tricolour followed by National Anthem by all the office bearers of Pradesh Congress Committee, District Congress, Block Congress, City Congress and frontal organizations viz Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, INTUC, PRI members, all cells and general public with patriotic fervour.
Sharma said that on this day in the year 1950 the Indian Constitution came into force which made India a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic with a Parliamentary system of Government. He expressed the need for every islander to imbibe the spirit enshrined in the pre-emblem of Indian Constitution and to work for development of these islands maintaining social harmony, peace and tranquility.
