Port Blair, Jan 28: Indian Coast Guard Region (A & N) is conducting various events for the local populace of the Islands to commemorate its 44thRaising Day. As a part of this series, a Multispecialty Health Camp was organized in coordination with GB Pant Hospital and Directorate of Health Services, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, at Burma Nalla, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat Office, for the local populace on       25 Jan 2020.The Commanding Officers and Officers-in-Charges of Coast Guard ships and establishments based at Port Blair were also present at the event.The ladies of Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA) also actively participated in the event, Mrs. Mohita Pathak, President Tatrakshika (A & N) Region spoke to the Gram Pradhan, Smt V Shanthi, regarding the various ongoing projects being undertaken and social issues being faced by the local populace of the area. The motive of the health camp was to promote wellness among the local population as well as to strike the cord in enhancing the social endeavours of Indian Coast Guard. The event marked a very high level of enthusiasm and zeal among the local community.

Approximately 111 patients utilised the opportunity of the free multispecialty health camp. In addition to the services of Medical Officers of Indian Coast Guard, services of Specialist Doctors from GB Pant hospital including Medical Specialist, Gynaecologist, Paediatrician and Ophthalmologist were also provided. Free medicines were correspondingly distributed to the patients who attended the camp. In addition, a health talk on flagship programmes of Government of India, like “Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana” was also conducted by Health Education Officers from the Directorate of Health Services, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, to spread awareness regarding advancements in policies pertaining to Health Services among the target audience. The event was a huge success as the local populace lauded the efforts of Indian Coast Guard and expressed desire for similar drives in future.
