General Public asked to Desist Overcrowding for the Safety of All

Port Blair, March 29: As per the new directives of the Andaman & Nicobar administration following the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta’s Order, all petrol pumps in the islands will be open by tomorrow 30th March 2020. The petrol pumps will continue to be open throughout the lockdown period.

There is enough stock available with the Indian Oil Corporation to feed the pumps and therefore there is no need to panic and rush to fill up two wheelers and four wheelers, which has resulted in extraordinary long queues today at the Jadwet Petrol Pump, said Mr Mohammed Jadwet, Ex-President, Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry in a communication today.

Mr Jadwet further said that this is not safe and defeats the call of the Government about social distancing and overcrowding. People should remember that even with the petrol in your car or two wheelers, people should understand that they are only supposed to be moving around only to meet the essential needs.

Andaman Chronicle appeals to all its readers and general public to desist such overcrowding, which defeats the very purpose of Lockdown not only in your personal interest but the larger interest of the islands.
